Every part of the station is shaped around making movement clear and intuitive, from the moment people arrive, to the moment they change lines or continue into the city.

The station is designed to function as a gateway into a new area of development, forming a distinctive and integrated part of the urban experience. A generous roof gives the station a strong identity, while the open space beneath creates a bright and generous sense of arrival. Soft landscape flows naturally from the building creating a continuous green setting that connects the station with surrounding streets, shops and the waterfront.

The design builds on what is already there. The new intercity station is carefully woven into the existing metro, making the most of the site while creating new capacity, connections, and a new identity for the site. Daylight and greenery are brought deep into the building, creating a calm and comfortable environment for passengers. A simple and repeatable approach to construction ensures that the civic scale of the project can be delivered efficiently.
