Two mixed-use buildings integrate market and affordable housing into one unified structure. This is the first project in the second phase of the Alexandra Park Revitalisation — an ambitious city-building initiative that transforms Alexandra Park into a vibrant, pedestrian-oriented neighbourhood in the heart of downtown Toronto.
In partnership with CS&P Architects, we are developing two mixed-use buildings: one with affordable housing for Toronto Community Housing (TCHC) operated by Atkinson Cooperative and the other with market housing for Tridel.
Our approach to the design was to make the buildings read as a single, unified development. Although the interiors differ, the architectural expression on the exterior makes them indistinguishable. A portion of the outdoor amenities will be shared by all residents.
Ground floor program spaces are arranged around a lush exterior garden that slopes dramatically up the building. This creates outdoor recreation areas for all residents, hides service and loading zones, and leads to outdoor lounge spaces and community garden plots.
