People-focused
Our ambition for the design of Tabuk Coastal International Airport was to create an arrival experience rooted in the history, landscape and identity of Al Wajh, giving visitors an authentic sense of place from the moment they arrive. The design is built around the human journey through the airport, using the protective qualities of the landscape to create a welcoming and memorable passenger experience. We drew inspiration from local culture and settlement patterns - ensuring the airport reflects the community it serves, rather than imposing a generic typology.

Inventive
Our design reimagines the airport as an extension of the natural landscape, embedding the terminal within excavated rock formations; translating the geological features into experiential architecture and creating a compelling passenger experience. We explored innovative use of site-excavated materials to shape both the architecture and the identity of the site.

Responsible
Sustainability is woven into the core of the design. The concept proposes reusing materials excavated from the site, reducing material imports and making use of local resources. The design responds directly to local environmental conditions, using the thermal mass and durability of natural materials to create a robust and climate-responsive solution.
